A little about me.
Hi there! My name's Caroline, I live in Twickenham (London, UK) and I specialise in large-scale oil paintings. My artwork is inspired by dramatic and eerie landscapes, as well as fantasy and otherworldly stories and film - whether it's places I've been, dreamed of being or imagined (or a mix!).
When I'm not painting, I work as a Fundraising Manager at Maggie's Cancer Centres. I also spend a lot of time escaping the city to explore; I’m an endurance / adventure sports nut, I love bikepacking and mountaineering in particular and these adventures have influenced my art.
Over the past couple of years, I have struggled to decide how I could make my 'pretty' artwork high-class and seem more meaningful to the art world. I've since realised that art doesn't need to be painful to be engaging - there's beauty in a painting that simply immerses you in its theme and surroundings. Like most art forms, painting is away of escaping every day life - finding your happy place.
I love working on large-scale paintings or across multiple canvases. With more space, I hope to increase the size of my paintings further and create more immersive art. We spend our lives by the clock and it can be relentless. I hope my paintings add some fun, tranquillity and stillness into an otherwise busy life.
My experience:
